“I love this dirty town.”
New York City’s vernacular never smelled sweeter than it does in 1957’s Sweet Smell of Success. Any device designed to test acidity levels, applied to this film’s dialogue, would itself disintegrate after turning it on. Sweet Smell of Success will be reviewed as this month’s Blu-ray recommendation at the end of the month and is showing on TCM, Monday, May 15 at 6:30 pm PDT and again on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 pm PDT.
