Sunday (August 30th) on TCM:

Beginning a highly recommended series of 4 films starring Joel McCrea is…

Sullivan's Travels (1941). Preston Sturges masterfully wrote and directed Sullivan's Travels, a prior Blu-ray endorsement here. The fun-filled journey will begin Sunday, August 30 at 9 am PDT.

Joel McCrea, Veronica Lake

Next up is Alfred Hitchcock's dazzling thriller, Foreign Correspondent (1940), previously reviewed here. His main character’s precarious globe trotting assignment will begin Sunday, August 30 at 12:45 pm PDT.

Joel McCrea

A Top Ten Western is Sam Peckinpah's elegiac Ride the High Country (1962), coming in at number 4 on the list here and will ride into TCM territory Sunday, August 30 at 5 pm PDT.

Randolph Scott as Gil Westrum (on the left) and Joel McCrea as Steve Judd

Raoul Walsh's Colorado Territory (1949) is the impassioned director's artistically superior western remake of his previous film noir High Sierra (1941). Readers can discover why I make this claim here, and for those familiar with the earlier Humphrey Bogart vehicle, decide for themselves when Colorado Territory is explored Sunday, August 30 at 7 pm PDT.

Virginia Mayo, Joel McCrea
